First Baby Of 2016 In Sacramento Region Arrived Seconds After Midnight
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The first baby of 2016 in our region arrived right on time.
"It was just after midnight; just seconds after midnight," said Dr. Jeanne Conry assistant physician-in-chief, Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center.
Ashlynn White arrived just in time to become the Sacramento area's first baby of 2016. Her mom, Amber White, couldn't be more thrilled.
"I wasn't expecting it at all. We actually had a C-section scheduled for next Wednesday. I have a condition where I get monitored twice a week and, so, during my monitoring they said, 'well go to labor and delivery' and here we are," said Amber.
We asked Amber when she found out that her daughter was the first baby to be born in 2016 in this area.
"When they started counting down in the O.R.," said she said.
Conry says New Year's Eve is one of the staff's favorite nights to work.
"Honestly it's the night that we all compete to see who gets to be on call because it's such a fun time to be there for the deliveries," said Conry.
This is the third daughter for the White family. We asked big sister Audrina how she felt about having a brand new sister.
"Uh, like, real excited," she said.
Ashlynn weighed in at five pounds, two ounces. Both mom and baby are doing well.
