Vacaville Man's Losing Lottery Scratcher Wins Him Trip To Super Bowl

VACAVILLE (CBS13) — A Vacaville man is one of six lucky winners who played a losing ticket in a special California Lottery drawing and he'll be heading to the Super Bowl next month.

Ralph McClellan is no stranger to playing the lottery, but he's never won anything until now. The road to the $30,000 grand prize started with a losing California Lottery scratcher ticket.

He entered that ticket in a special second-chance drawing with hundreds of thousands of other entries, and now he's heading to the NFL's biggest game of the year.

His wife of 50 years had first dibs on the second ticket, but Elaine gave up her spot.

"I would have loved to go, but I know my son would really want to go," she said.

So Ralph and his son, John, are headed to Santa Clara with four nights of accommodations, free transportation, $1,000 of spending money and two lower-level seats inside the stadium.

He will also get to go to the Hall of Fame luncheon where someone from the Pro Football Hall of Fame will join him and tour the Hall of Fame exhibit afterward.
