Kings: Golden 1 Center Will Be World's 'Most Connected Arena'

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Kings say they're right on track to tip-off the next season in their brand new house.

Kings president Chris Granger told CBS13's Ron Jones, "This is going to be the world's most connected arena. The world's fastest arena." Internet connection at Golden 1 Center will be 17,000 times faster than then one at a typical home, Granger says.

Granger says he's really excited about what you don't see: the hidden technology to bring you closer to the game.

"So no matter where you are sitting in the building you should be able to order food and have it delivered to your seat. You should be able to see that replay in real-time if you missed it when you were looking in some other direction," says Granger.

Granger says the Internet speed will blow away any router running in your home, saying, "It's equivalent to downloading or uploading 225,000 Snapchats every single second."

Sleep Train is known for being loud and proud, the sound was almost deafening at Thursday night's Lakers game. We asked Granger, can the Golden 1 Center can duplicate that sound?

"We are spending a lot of time with audio engineers to try to re-create at Sleep Train, and quite honestly, it's hard. The Golden 1 Center is twice the size of Sleep Train Arena. The roof is much higher." Granger tells us.

We asked Granger if there were any surprises that we don't know about yet. He responded, "There's always a few things that we have up our sleeve that we will be announcing in the coming weeks. I think we have another big technology announcement probably to come next week."
