Relocation Committee Backs Raiders-Chargers LA Stadium Bid

The Orange County Register is reporting that the NFL relocation committee has backed the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders to build a $1.7 billion stadium in Carson, California. The plan was recommended on Tuesday by a 5-1 vote.

Clark Hunt, the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, was the only one who opposed the recommendation. The backing does not guarantee the move. The owners of all the NFL teams will meet in Houston to vote on the matter. The plan will need 24 of the 32 owners in order for the relocation to happen.

The news may set back Ram's owner, Stan Kroenke, and Disney CEO Bob Iger's efforts to build a $2.66 billion stadium in Inglewood.

UPDATE:

NBC Sports is reporting that the NFL owners' initial vote show them in favor of the Rams and the Chargers to move to Inglewood together. The motion failed to get the needed 24 votes.
