Sacramento Native Arik Armstead Happy Chip Kelly A 49er

Former Pleasant Grove High School student and current defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers, Arik Armstead, has his old coach back.

The 49ers announced Thursday that Chip Kelly, former head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and Oregon Ducks, has been chosen as the new head coach.

Both Armstead and Kelly were together at the University of Oregon for just one season in 2012, but Kelly recruited Armstead out of Elk Grove, Calif. The two have history with one another and it will be interesting to see how Kelly tries to turn around a once-great franchise.

Although Armstead didn't start as a freshman in 2012, he did appear in all 13 games as the Ducks went 12-1 (the one loss was to Stanford) and won the Fiesta Bowl over Kansas State.
