Super Bowl City Security Extends Along The 50th Mile To the NFL Experience

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS13) — There's a mile along Market Street between Super Bowl City at the Embarcadero and the NFL Experience at the Moscone Center that's been renamed the 50th Mile in honor of Super Bowl 50.

Carmen Segovian of Natomas says she knew she'd be wanded and have her bag checked, but she was happy with the security measures.

"I was really happy to see that they're not going to allow any guns or anything like that," he said.

They won't allow anyone to go near Super Bowl City unchecked. Beyond the metal detectors, cops and the U.S. Coast Guard are walking around with machine guns. There are also undercover officers, and the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and San Francisco police are sharing intelligence.

They're watching every tourist and local, recording and using facial recognition software. The exact number of officers is unknown, but the look of it is enough to fill street corners, stages and rooftops around Super Bowl City.
