Vallejo Man Arrested In Connection With Assault Outside Mall In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) - Fairfield police have arrested a man accused of attacking a woman at the Solano Town Center Mall on Wednesday.

The attack happened just before noon in the mall parking lot. Investigators say after she was attacked, the woman called 911 asking for help. She was taken by paramedics to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a statement from the Fairfield Police Department. Some of her belongings were also taken.

Fairfield police learned that a similar crime had occurred in Vallejo on Tuesday. Police tracked down the suspect, 19-year-old David King, in the 100 block of Fairmont Avenue around 12:30 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident and the victim's property from the Fairfield case was recovered.

"She suffered major injuries to her head and was subsequently transported to a trauma center," said Sgt. Jeff Osgood, a spokesperson for the Fairfield Police Department.

King was booked into the Solano County Jail for robbery and attempted murder related to the Fairfield case and robbery and attempted Murder in the Vallejo case.

This case is currently under investigation.

Regular mall shoppers say this is a reminder to stay vigilant, and will likely change some of their habits.

"If you can't be safe at a public mall where there's security, where are you safe at?" said Rachel Vansickle, a Fairfield resident.

"I'll probably carry more knives," said a shopper.

"I plan on defending myself, absolutely," said Vansickle.
