Former Sac State QB Bethel-Thompson Signed By Eagles

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed former Sacramento State quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson to a contract. The details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Bethel-Thompson spent a part of last season on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, but was previously signed by them in 2011 after spending a year with the San Jose Sabercats in the Arena Football League. He has also spent the last five seasons in Miami (twice) and Minnesota.

From 2008-2010 at Sac State, Bethel-Thompson spent most of his time backing up Jason Smith and Jeff Fleming, but put up the fifth-highest career completion percentage in school history (.574). In 2006-2007, Bethel-Thompson attended UCLA where he redshirted his freshman year and split starting snaps in his second year before transferring to Sac State.

Philadelphia has Mark Sanchez on their roster as of now, but Sam Bradford is expected to leave via free agency. Bethel-Thompson may have a shot in playing in his first NFL regular season game in 2016.
