Residents Displaced After Fire Damages Apartment Building In Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) - At least four people were forced from their apartments ovrnight following a fire in Citrus Heights.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday, fire crews arrived at an apartment complex on the 6000 Block of Shadow Lane after the woman living in the apartment reported flames coming from her patio, according to a statement from the Sacramento Metro Fire Department.

She says her boyfriend was smoking on the patio when she says she saw smoke coming through the slats of the water heater shed door.

She opened the door and saw the glow of flames. She grabbed a fire extinguisher, but it didn't work. By the time she found a second fire extinguisher, flames were coming into the apartment.

Three other units suffered smoke and water damage, which is estimated around $275,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
