Davis Woman Searching For Owner Of Marine Ring Found At Yolo County Airport

DAVIS (CBS13) — A Davis woman is trying to solve the mystery of a Marine's ring that was recently found at the Yolo County airport.

The airfield was once used by the military during World War II, but there's no way to tell just how long it's been there.

Kimberly Callow is trying to reunite the ruby-red ring with its rightful owner.

"I do picture someone maybe in their 60, 70s coming down like this is my ring, I've been looking for this for years and you're like here it is," she said.

Her coworkers at the Yolo County Airport were doing routine runway inspection looking for debris that could damage aircraft when they spotted the ring off to the side of the tarmac in the dirt. Callow things it may have been uncovered by the recent rain.

"It's kind of a little smushed so we don't know what happened," she said.

It could belong to a pilot or passenger, or it may have even fallen from the sky, since there is also a skydiving company located at the airport.

She can't find any personally identifiable markings, and so far, no one's come forward to claim it.

"The only big significant thing is this ring is huge, so whoever owned it definitely has some pretty big fingers," she said.
