49ers Give DT Quinton Dial 3-Year Contract Extension

The San Francisco 49ers announced the extension of defensive tackle Quinton Dial on Wednesday, making him signed through the 2019 season.

"Throughout his first three seasons in the NFL, Quinton has shown consistent development and has become a key contributor in our defense," said 49ers general manager Trent Baalke in a press release. "We have certainly seen his positive impact on the field and in our locker room, but we also recognize the impressive work he does in the community year round. We are pleased to extend the contract of young players like Quinton and are excited to see him continue his career with the 49ers."

Dial, 25, started in 15 games last season in what some would call a breakout season for the young defensive lineman. He posted a career high 32 tackles, 27 assists and 2.5 sacks in 2015-16 and will most likely be slated as a starter next season.

Dial was drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round (157th overall) out of the University of Alabama in the 2013 draft.
