Next Storms Bring Worries Over Minor Flooding

NIMBUS (CBS13) – With incoming storms picking up in intensity as we head into the weekend, there's a possibility we could see some minor flooding and other damage in the next few days.

Downed trees and power lines are big concerns along with flooding. Forecasters are also concerned about the potential for debris flows near recently burned areas.

Water releases at Nimbus Dam into the lower American River could potentially ramp up with the storms getting stronger for the weekend. The latest releases in cubic feet per second are scaled back a bit, but now water could be released starting tomorrow because we could see up to seven inches of rain in Northern California over the next week or so.

As far as Folsom Lake is concerned, water is at the highest level in the state of California. Every other lake is lower. It's above historical averages currently at 62 percent.

This year we already saw a good amount in December and January, but not much in February. March could help us get back into the ballgame.
