Rivers Running High As Storm After Storm Rolls Through

SACRAMETNO (CBS13) – If you haven't been to the Sacramento River in a while, it's going to look a lot different.

A sand bar can usually be seen just beyond a boat ramp at Discovery Park. However, all the sand is submerged in the water because of all the rain we have been seeing in March.

Water is pouring out of Folsom Lake and people along the American River are being warned about the risks in rising water levels.

Experts say just 6 inches of water can knock you down – and 2 feet can sweep your car away.

With more storms in the forecast and additional dam releases still possible, first responders want people to know there are lots of potential dangers with rising water levels.

Park rangers have been out on foot warning people. These ground and aerial efforts will likely continue through the week as we are expected to see more rain head into the valley.
