Sacramento State Students On Edge After Suspicious Van Poses As Campus Shuttle

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A suspicious van spotted on the Sacramento State campus is rattling nerves after the driver approached a female student.

Campus police say it's a very unusual incident, and they're still investigating the incident from overnight on Sunday where a man drove a van posing as the campus shuttle. He allegedly approached a student, but she did not go in.

For student Reem Alkudsi, learning about the suspicious van on campus was alarming.

"We stay late on campus to study and if this happens to a girl, it can happen to me," Alkudsi said.

Female students are often seen late at night coming and going through the parking lots, and some say with the frequency of these events increasing, it takes away the shock factor.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on Sunday. When the female student exited her car and was walking on the top floor of parking structure 2, she was approached by a dark green van, with rear tinted windows, the driver of that van asking her if she had asked for a campus shuttle. Thankfully the student noticed the van had no markings and that the night shuttle doesn't run on weekends.

Once the female student said she didn't ask for the shuttle, the driver of the van simply thanked her and left.
