New England Patriots trade Chandler Jones to Arizona Cardinals
ESPN's Adam Schefter and Dianna Marie Russini are reporting that the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a trade. The Cardinals will receive defensive end Chandler Jones and the Patriots will receive offensive guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick.
Jones, 26, had a strong year last year with 12.5 sacks. Cooper, who was drafted seventh overall by the Cardinals in the 2013, started just 11 games over the last two years.
Getting rid of a prominent player isn't anything new for the Patriots and considering that he was going into his final year of his rookie contract and was scheduled to make $7.79 million.
Jones also dealt with some bizarre legal issues last year. Perhaps that had something to do with the trade.
