Armed Man Accused Of Trying To Kidnap Girl In East Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Officers are investigating after an apparent kidnapping attempt in East Sacramento.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near 45th and M Streets.

A 13-year-old girl was reportedly walking to Kit Carson Middle School when a dark-colored sedan with two suspects inside approached her. Police say one of the suspects got out of the car, grabbed the girl's clothes and pulled out a gun.

Piecing together clues, police released a composite sketch of the man who grabbed the girl.

The girl was able yell for help and run away, police say. A neighbor also heard the girl scream and ran to her side and the suspects drove off.

"Victim is safe [and] reunited with her family and they're working through healing process of such an event taking place," said Matthew McPhail with Sacramento Police.

The girl's school has been notified. Officers are now canvassing the neighborhood for anyone or any car that fits the description.

Police say the car is possibly an 2000s model dark gray Volkswagen Jetta sedan with rear tinted windows.
