Davis Police Warn Of Uptick In 'Door Kick' Burglaries

DAVIS (CBS13) - Police in Davis are warning residents of an uptick in so-called "door kick" burglaries in recent weeks.

City of Davis Police say the burglaries have been happening all over the city over the past month. Police have not detailed any specific incidents, but note that at least two of the burglaries happened just this past weekend.

Investigators have taken note of some similarities in the incidents, including the fact that the victim homeowners were gone for one or more nights.

The thieves have been taking cash, jewelry and safes, police say.

"Door kick" burglaries happen when a suspect finds a house where no one is home just kicks in the door to get inside.
