Judge Orders Deputies' Accused Killer To Stand Trial

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The man accused of killing two local sheriff's deputies in 2014 has been ordered to stand trial.

After three days of hearings, a Sacramento judge decided there is enough evidence for Luis Monroy Bracamontes, and his wife, Janelle Marquez Monroy, to stand trial in the deadly shootings.

Last year, while in court, Bracamontes reportedly yelled out he killed Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff's Det. Michael Davis Jr., and said he was ready to be executed.

His lawyers at the time said he was mentally ill.

His next hearing is set for June 17, 2016.

Bracamontes gave police the name Marcelo Marquez of Salt Lake City when he was arrested.
