Call Kurtis: Where's The Company That Offered Lifetime Warranty On My $25,000 Windows?

AUBURN (CBS13) — After investing $25,000 on a house full of windows, Terre Davis says she never expected to find them bowing or pulling away from the frame. She bought the windows from Weatherite in Sacramento back in 2007 with a full lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.

Davis read the policy which says it's, "to ensure peace of mind as long as you live in your home."

With bent frames on two windows and moisture showing up on another, she says she can't get them fixed. Both Weatherite and the window manufacturer Superior Engineered Products are no longer around. The contact information listed on the paperwork goes no-where.

Consumer attorney Stuart Talley says a lifetime may not always last a lifetime.

"If the company that's issuing it is not around for your lifetime it's really worthless," he said.

We tracked down what happened to Superior Engineered Products and learned in 2010 the company merged with Atrium Corporation in Texas. We learned Atrium is honoring Superior's warranties. Atrium tells us Weatherite should've notified its customers of the new contact information for the warranty before Weatherite closed in 2013. Atrium agreed to take care of Davis and honor her warranty.
