Grass Valley Man Arrested After Speeding To His Court Date

AUBURN (CBS13) - A man late for his court date just had a whole bunch of other charges added to his rap sheet.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office says a man sped by two deputies in front of the North Lake Tahoe Sheriff's Station on Monday. Deputies saw the man park in the wrong parking lot - taking up two spaces - then run into the courthouse.

He was soon identified as 47-year-old Grass Valley resident Thomas Edward Weed.

Weed was driving on a suspended license and was on probation.

Deputies confronted Weed once he was done inside the courthouse. Weed at first denied he drove to court, but reportedly backed down once the deputies said they saw him drive up.

Weed's car was searched and a stash of marijuana packed and ready to be sold was discovered, along with hash, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Further, deputies found Weed to be under the influence of meth.

Weed was arrested and booked at Placer County Jail. He is facing numerous drug charges, DUI, driving on a suspended license and a probation violation. His bail is set at $45,000.
