U.S. Marshals Offering Reward For Information In Finding Rape Suspect

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The U.S. Marshals say a man wanted on accusations of raping a wheelchair-bound person has ties to California.

The incident happened back in June 2012. Authorities say 29-year-old Michael Hawkins sexually assaulted a mentally challenged woman after her family went to bed.

Authorities say Hawkins managed to stay off their radar until he allegedly attacked another woman in November of 2013. The woman was the wife of one of Hawkins' friends.

Hawkins took off and hasn't been seen since. The U.S. Marshals say he has personal ties to New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Oregon, California and Florida.

Investigators say Hawkins is sometimes known as "Zombie Mike" due to his poor hygiene. He also has a 1 and half inch scar on his face, a burn mark on his right arm, and a tattoo on his chest of the Grim Reaper.

A $5,000 reward for information that leads to Hawkins' arrest is being offered.

Anyone who sees him or knows where he might be is asked to call the U.S. Marshals Service at 1 (800) 336-0102.
