5 People Dead, 4 Sent To Hospital In Highway 12 Crash

Update: The Sacramento County Coroners office has identified three of the five victims in this crash.

The victims are listed as 3-year-old Adelaynna Ortiz from Modesto and Aalyah Buenrostro, age 17 of Modesto. The third victim was identified as Annalicia Montoya, age 21,  of Modesto.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) - Five people have died in a crash along Highway 12 just east of Rio Vista.

California Highway Patrol confirms the crash killed two women, a teenager and two infants. Four other people have been sent to the hospital.

CHP investigators say the women were driving a Honda Civic eastbound along Highway 12 around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. They apparently tried to pass a vehicle when they struck oncoming traffic.

The second vehicle involved, a Chevy pickup truck, was side-swiped. Four people in that vehicle and were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to preliminary evidence, the women and children in the Civic were not wearing seat belts, CHP says.
