Police Unable To Locate Wanted Man In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) -- Streets are back open in a Fairfield neighborhood after police were unable to find a man considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police say the man may have been hiding in a neighborhood on the west side of Fairfield, but after several hours of searching they were not able to locate him.

Police first notified residents in the area to shelter in place just before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday. The SWAT team was conducting yard to yard searches on Stephen, James and Henry Streets, according to police.

A Nixle message sent to residents said police would try and contact the residents at the front door before conducting the search. Police also asked residents to remain inside, keep their doors locked and to bring any pets inside, if possible.

In a tweet, police asked residents on Stephen Street to make sure their windows were closed as they were deploying tear gas into a residence on that street.

Police described the suspect they are looking for as 28-year-old Kyle Matthew Amos, standing 6' 2" tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with blonde short shaved hair and blue eyes. Police were not able to give a clothing description of the suspect.

A Sacramento Police helicopter was also assisting in the search, according to Fairfield Police on Twitter.

Investigators were not able to say what the man is wanted for but said they would release more information soon.
