Suspicious Wildfire Burns Several Acres in Dillon Beach

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) - Officials say a suspicious wildfire at Dillon Beach in Marin County burned five acres near homes and a popular campground before firefighters contained it.

Marin County Fire Battalion Chief Bret McTigue tells the Santa Rosa Press Democrat emergency dispatchers received reports of the fire Friday night.

He says the blaze burned in dune grasses near 19 structures and Lawson's Landing Resort, where campers were ordered to shelter in place.

McTigue says no damage to structures and no injuries were reported.

Marin County sheriff's deputies tweeted suspicious people were seen running from the area when the fire started.

McTigue says he has no information about possible arsonists and said an investigation into the cause was ongoing.
