Deputies: Driver Tried To Ram Detective's Unmarked Car In Apparent Road Rage Incident

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A driver is under arrest on accusations he tried to ram into a detective's unmarked vehicle in an apparent road rage incident.

The incident started near Riverside Boulevard and Havenside Drive.

Lt. Brendon Hom with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says a detective was in an unmarked car in the area when the suspect pulled up next to him. Hom says the suspect, believing he was cut off, screamed some curse words at the detective.

The detective identified himself as such, prompting the suspect to speed away.

Hom says the suspect turned around and tried to ram the detective's car twice.

The suspect took off and the detective followed. Hom says the detective saw the suspect run through stop signs and signal lights.

Eventually, both Sacramento Sheriff deputies and Sacramento Police officers stopped the suspect near Florin Road and Riverside Boulevard. He was taken into custody without incident.

Hom says the suspect, who is only being identified as a 52-year-old man at this time, is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
