Police: Former President Admits Embezzling From Foothill Farms Little League

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) — Citrus Heights detectives say a woman violated the community's trust by spending cash on herself instead of a local Little League foundation.

Investigators say Mistina Treadway, 34, showed up at the Citrus Heights Police Department, and once she got in front of a detective, she confessed.

Police arrested the former president of the Foothill Farms Little League for felony embezzlement.

The investigation began with an anonymous phone call.

"Earlier this month we learned from a tip from the community that Miss Treadway may be abusing her position of power," said Det. Wesley Herman

He says the alleged embezzlement happened last year while Treadway was still the president of the Little League. He says she used the nonprofit's credit card to do some personal shopping.

"It was on things that by any stretch of the imagination was not used for the Little League foundation," Herman said.

Investigators aren't saying what she bought, but she's accused of spending about $5,000 on herself. She resigned as president last October before the suspect purchases came to light.

"It's very unfortunate when something like this happens you have obviously a little league group that relies on money that is donated to provide for their enjoyment," Herman said.

He says Treadway isn't denying it.

"She summarized and stated and admitted that she, in fact, has basically been involved and that it was wrong," he said.

She has since bailed out. Detectives say they are now seeking restitution for the foundation.
