14 Year Old Boy Leads Officers On High Speed Chase

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (AP) - A 14-year-old boy led officers on a high-speed chase in Northern California, crashed the car and ran away only to turn himself in hours later.

Police in Rohnert Park said the chase began around 1:40 a.m. Saturday when an officer spotted the teenager running a stop sign.

The teen refused to pull over. Instead, he drove a Kia Spectra at speeds over 90 mph until he lost control of the vehicle, struck a sign and several bushes before coming to a stop.

The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reports the boy ran away while two minors who were passengers in the car were detained.

The boy turned himself in several hours later and was booked into juvenile hall. His name was not released because he is a minor.
