Suspect Climbs Tree Trying To Shake Deputies In Rio Linda

RIO LINDA (CBS13) – A man is in custody after fleeing from deputies and holding himself in a tree for hours.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, they received calls around 10 p.m. Sunday night of a guy pounding on a relative's door in Rio Linda.

When they didn't answer, the suspect left the area but was later found by deputies. That's when the suspect ran and ended up climbing into a tree to evade the officers.

He finally came down before 3 a.m. Monday.

Officers did recover a backpack the suspect dropped. Inside they found a sawed-off shotgun and some reportedly stolen items.

At this time, it's not known what charges the suspect may face.
