Police Searching For Man Who Molested Teen In Davis Library Bathroom

DAVIS (CBS13) — A teenager said he was molested multiple times at a public library weeks ago over a several week period.

Police told CBS13 the teen was too afraid to come forward initially, but are taking these allegations very seriously.

The teen told police it happened at the Davis Branch Pubic Library.

It's filled with people constantly in and out and for many it's the last place they'd suspect an assault.

"It's kind of surprising and infuriating in a way," said Abel Unzueta who works with high school kids there all the time.

"I'm surprised somebody would go that far molest a child in a public bathroom," said another woman from Woodland who frequents the library.

Davis Police are investigating the alleged attacks from weeks ago.

"Library has young people there looking at computers and reading books, so for lack of a better word it's a target rich environment," said Lt. Tom Waltz with Davis PD.

Unzueta who works with many teens at the library said it's understandable the said the teen took so long to come forward.

"They are victims and they feel like it's their fault sometimes that this is happening. It's terrible," he said.

The library has surveillance cameras from one end to the other and police have a detailed description.

The suspect is described as a tall, thin, white man with short curly gray hair and facial hair carrying a blue shoulder bag.

"If they frequent the library they might have information that they don't even realize they do," said Lt. Waltz.

If you have any information, call Davis Police.
