Call Kurtis Investigates: Medical Board Looking Into Claims of Fixing HIV & Cancer, Following CBS13 Investigation

SACRAMETNO (CBS13) —  The California Medical and Chiropractic Boards are concerned what we uncovered in our investigation of a former Chiropractor and his wife.

"I want to thank you for bringing this to our attention," said Medical Board spokesperson Cassandra Hockenson. "We are looking into it."

CBS13 found former Chiropractor Dr. James Lovelace and his wife Margaret Mary seeing people inside a Rancho Cordova Hotel room at the Fairfield Marriott. She made incredible claims captured on hidden camera that they got rid of cancer tumors, fixed four people of HIV and rebuilt heart valves.

We started investigating after hearing from the family of an 87-year-old Fair Oaks woman who found she had been spending $7,000 a year with the couple. The elderly woman told us, she thought Dr. Lovelace was a Chiropractor, but we learned his license was revoked in 2004, because he didn't have a physical office.

When we confronted the couple at checkout time, Dr. Lovelace and Margaret Mary insisted they are nutritionists, and not doing Chiropractic work despite asking the people they see to make checks out to "Cordova Chiropractic."

The California Medical Board and Chiropractic Board tell CBS13, they want to hear from anyone who recently went to this couple for treatment. (Click here to file a complaint)

"This is your health, your life," said Hockenson. "And you want to make sure that who you are seeing is properly trained and properly licensed."

Chiropractic Board Spokesperson Veronica Harns says, "There can be criminal action taken against an unlicensed professional."

Both agencies recommend you check the license of your own Doctor or Chiropractor. You can also find out if they've been disciplined.
