2 Killed In Head-On Crash East Of Sloughhouse

8:30 a.m. UPDATE: Authorities have released more information about the crash, including revealing that a second person has died.

California Highway Patrol says three cars were involved in the crash, a 2004 Volkswagen, a 2012 Nissan and a 2012 Honda.

Witnesses reported that the Nissan was speeding and weaving in and out of its lane.

Eventually, the Nissan veered into oncoming traffic and sideswiped the Volkswagen, causing the other car to flip over.

The Nissan kept going and eventually slammed into the Honda head-on.

The driver of the Nissan, a 47-year-old man from Rancho Murieta, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda driver, a 70-year-old woman from Sacramento, later died at the UC Davis Medical Center.

Three people were inside the Volkswagen. All escaped with minor to no injuries.

SLOUGHHOUSE (CBS13) - One person is dead after an accident involving multiple cars in the Sloughhouse area of Sacramento County.

The scene was along Jackson Road, near Dillard Road.

California Highway Patrol says the crash happened just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

One of the cars involved reportedly ended up on its roof. Three other people were involved in the crash.

No details about the person who was killed in the crash has been released.

A portion of Jackson Road was closed through the early morning hours during the investigation, but has since reopened.
