Man Charged In Stabbing Death Of Toddler, Wounding Pregnant Girlfriend

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Los Angeles man has been charged with stabbing his pregnant girlfriend and her 2-year-old daughter, killing the little girl and critically wounding her mother.

The district attorney's office says 22-year-old Lataz Gray was charged Thursday with murder and attempted murder. He remains jailed.

Officers responding to a 911 call late Monday found both victims with multiple stab wounds on the floor of a home near downtown.

The toddler, Malaiya Tademy, died at a hospital. Her mother, who is five months pregnant, is expected to survive. Police said her unborn child was not injured in the attack. The mother's name was not released.

Investigators said the stabbing followed an argument at the home where the suspect and victims lived.

Gray was not the 2-year-old girl's father.
