Inmate Shot By Guard At California State Prison, Sacramento

REPRESA (CBS13) - This is the latest on an incident at California State Prison, Sacramento.

12:15 p.m.

At least four inmates were injured in the incident, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

One of the inmates was shot by a correctional officer, officials say. Another inmate was stabbed multiple times in the incident. Both have been transported to a hospital outside of the prison.

The two other inmates suffered minor injuries.

Correctional officers recovered three inmate-made stabbing weapons, officials say.

The incident is still under investigation.

10:40 a.m.

An incident at California State Prison, Sacramento forced a guard to fire off their weapon late Monday morning.

A prison spokesperson confirmed that a guard's Mini weapon was fire and said it is unclear if anyone was hit.

It is unclear what kind of incident led up to the guard firing. The weapon used is described as a lethal assault weapon used to disburse crowds.

No other details are available at this time.

The maximum-security prison houses about 2,200 inmates and employs 1,700.

August 2015: Riot involving 70 inmates resulted in one inmate killed and several others injured.
September 2015: Stabbing incidents at prison involving 10 inmates and four correctional officers.

April 2016: Clinician attacked by an inmate and punched repeatedly.
