Friends, Family Hopeful Pearl Pinson Can Be Found

VALLEJO (CBS13) — Friends and family are making an emotional plea to find a 15-year-old girl from Vallejo after the man suspected of abducting her was shot dead on Thursday.

Pearl Pinson was abducted on Wednesday morning on her way to school, and she has not been seen since.

It was an emotional gathering at the very spot the Vallejo teen, bloodied and screaming for hope, was last seen. The alleged kidnapping happened on the Interstate 780 pedestrian overcrossing in Vallejo. Her blood was still on the ground as friends and family prayed for her safe return.

An Amber Alert issued on Thursday afternoon lead deputies in San Luis Obispo to spot the alleged kidnapper's car. A pursuit went into Santa Barbara County, ending with Fernando Castro, 19, opening fire before he was killed in the shootout.

With Castro dead, one of the last links to finding Pinson may have gone with him on Thursday. But her family continues to hold out hope that somewhere between Vallejo and San Luis Obispo County Pinson will be found.
