Family Of Man, Baby Found Dead In Slough Looking For Answers

ISLETON, Calif. (CBS13) - After a long week of wondering what happened to their son and granddaughter, the Jackson family finally has some answers.

"I can't eat," said Karla Jackson, Kyler Jackson's mother. "I cannot breathe right because my baby- they found my baby. He's 23 years old but he's my baby."

Six days after Kyler Jackson's family last saw him, Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies pulled his body from the Georgiana Slough in Isleton.

"I can't even allow my body to feel the frustration, I keep holding myself right now because if I don't, I don't know how much longer I can continue to stand," Jackson said.

And less than 24 hours after they found Kyler, divers pulled another body from the water. Sacramento County Coroner's Office confirmed it to be Kyler's 1-year-old daughter Kaylee Jackson.

The Jackson family is now turning to investigators looking for answers. As darkness loomed, the investigators scrambled to figure out how to pull the car from the water. And just after 8 p.m., Kyler's silver Ford Taurus was dragged out of the slough.

"I'm glad that I see the car," Jackson said.

She says she can't understand why her son would have driven this way on Andrus Island Road. Especially since he knew the drive from Antioch to Sacramento so well.

"He would have taken 160 on his way home, but even this route here, he would not have been on this road here," she insisted. "He would not after a year and a half have all of a sudden made a right turn instead of a left."

She told CBS13 that she wished the search had begun days earlier, and now all she can do is look forward to hearing what investigators find out next.

"It's a lot that could have been done before this end result," Jackson said. "I'll wait for the Lord to reveal the truth and then I can have my moment of closure."
