Police Rescue 3 Kidnapped Girls From Apartment

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Oakland police say they have rescued three teenage girls who were kidnapped by would-be sex traffickers.

Police say a man and a woman were taken into custody after a 14-year-old girl was rescued from a North Oakland apartment Wednesday morning.

Police say two other girls, ages 15 and 16, were later rescued from the same apartment.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that police said the girls were lured to the apartment Monday night, held against their will and pistol-whipped in an attempt to force them to work as prostitutes.

They have been released to their parents.
