Dalai Lama To Speak At Capitol, His First Visit To Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Dalai Lama will be in Sacramento on Monday to speak to lawmakers at the Capitol.
He is expected him to arrive around 12:30 p.m.
The visit is part of a state-wide "Act of Kindness" political campaign launched by a state senator.
The exiled Tibetan leader is expected to discuss compassion and ethical leadership, among other topics. The speech will not be open to the public.
The Dalai Lama has been in the United States the past week and met with President Obama on Wednesday. The White House downplayed the meeting to try and avoid as much criticism as possible from the Chinese government, who views the Dalai Lama as a separatist leader.
It will be the Dalai Lama's first-ever visit to Sacramento.
