Father Killed In Rosemont Home Invasion

ROSEMONT (CBS13) — A deadly home invasion claimed the life of a father near Sequoia Elementary School overnight.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says a male resident came home from a convenience store was greeted by approximately four armed men who forced their way into the home. After telling him to get on the ground, they're met by a 64-year-old man who told them to get out.

Investigators say one of the suspects shot and killed the man.

"It scares us," said Patricia Lobatos. "I'm afraid for my husband to come home at 1 o'clock in the morning now and come into the house cause the street we live on is pretty dark."

Investigators say the suspects got away in a number of different vehicles. They are tracing the route home of the surviving victim and also look at surveillance in the area to piece together the deadly puzzle.

"We have no indication there is any connection with the suspects in the residence of the home so that makes it more difficult as well usually when you have a clear motive," said Sgt. Tony Turnbull.

The suspects are in their 20s, all wearing hoodies with hoods over their head, and all of them were armed.
