Deputies: Latrobe Man Suspected Of Battery Against Elderly Mother, Father

LATROBE (CBS13) – Deputies have arrested a man suspected of battering his elderly mother and father.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says Latrobe resident Charles Bigby battered his mother and father on Sunday, then stopped them from calling 911 by disabling their phone.

Charles Bigby was arrested today in Latrobe after battering his elderly mother and father, both of whom are housebound due to medical conditions. The incident occurred yesterday. When the elderly couple attempted to call 911 Charles prevented them from hailing for help by disabling their phone. Fortunately a visit from other family members this afternoon allowed the couple to send word for help. When deputies arrived Charles fled from the house through the open fields of Latrobe. Charles was spotted fleeing on Latrobe Road when he surrendered to an EDSO canine unit. Charles was booked on numerous charges. X385

Bigby's mother and father are both housebound due to medical conditions, deputies say.

Family members who visited later discovered what happened, however, and called for help. Bigby ran off into a field when deputies got to the scene.

A K9 unit eventually took Bigby into custody after he was spotted on Latrobe Road.

Bigby was booked at El Dorado County Jail and is facing numerous charges.
