Authorities Consider Euthanizing Dogs That Fatally Mauled Infant

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities are trying to decide whether to euthanize two dogs after they mauled a 3-day-old baby to death in Fresno.

CBS47 reports that the shar-pei and pit bull mixes are currently quarantined at the Central California SPCA. Police say the two family dogs attacked the girl after her mother left her on the couch and walked away for a few seconds.

Authorities are meeting Wednesday to talk about the next step for the dogs, which could be euthanasia.

The baby died at a hospital shortly after the Monday attack.

Fresno Police don't anticipate filing any charges against the baby's mother.
