Man Attacks Officers After Crashing Into Tree

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A man crashed his car – but instead of waiting for help to arrive, he got into a fight with officers, police say.

The driver ran into a tree at Riverside Boulevard and Sutterville Road around 9 a.m. Monday.

Investigators say when officers tried to help the man, he jumped out of the car and ran away from paramedics.

Then, for unknown reason, he attacked an officer.

"It took several officers and firefighters driving by to apprehend the person and take them to custody," said Sgt. Neil Cybulski with the Sacramento Police Department.

Police say the driver was taken to a hospital.

The extent of the injuries is unknown.
