Whip, Nae Nae Reunited After Lost Lizard Coaxed Out Of El Dorado County Tree

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) — The infamous lost lizard of Placerville has been found.

"You've been missed," Trent Baker told his 4-foot 20-pound lizard Nae Nae. "I think she's happy to see me!"

Nae Nae has been on an adventure of a lifetime, possibly dodging cars and of course the natural elements of the El Dorado Hills.

"My biggest fear was a lack of water, that and predators," he said.

Baker posted a reptile Amber Alert to Facebook for his four-foot monitor over Memorial Day weekend, but had no luck.

"We haven't had any calls or sightings in over a month," he said.

Nae Nae went missing about five weeks ago and was spotted a few days later, but hasn't been seen since that is until Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors saw her running across the street and then straight up a tree.

"First couple trees I looked at they said she had climbed in, but she wasn't there. But then I thought, 'Well, they were driving, so I'm gonna go back a little bit and check another tree' and there she was about 20 feet up," he said.

It took Trent and a friend about an hour to get the lizard out of the tree and back home.

Trent said didn't know the caller, but most everyone knew about Nae Nae who blew up to insta celeb status through social media.

"By the time I posted she's been found in a tree, within five minutes there were 47 comments," he said.

In fact, the only one not so excited to see Nae Nae was her pal named Whip and miraculously only had a few blisters on her feet.

Trent said he reinforced the hinges on her cage and the only time Nae Nae goes out for another adventure will be strapped to a leash.
