Man Found Guilty Of Murder For DUI Crash That Killed Marine

FREMONT, Calif. (AP) - A California man has been convicted of murder for a 2014 car crash that killed a decorated Marine.

The Bay Area News Group reports that a jury last week found 25-year-old Alexander Yohn guilty of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for a high-speed crash in Fremont that killed Lance Cpl. Andrew Silva.

The 23-year-old Silva grew up in Union City and left behind his parents, three brothers, a wife and a young son.

Police say Yohn drank between nine and 12 shots of whiskey the night of the crash and sped up to 80 mph. He went through a red light and struck Silva, who was riding his motorcycle through a green light.

Yohn is scheduled to be sentenced August 10.
