Man Hospitalized After Violent Capitol Rally Says There Were No Words Before Stabbing

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — For the first time, we're hearing from one of the people taken to the hospital after the melee at the capitol on June 26.

"Everything was going pretty good until, pretty much until they came," said the man who asked we do not use his name for fear of relation.

The "They" he's referring to is the Traditionalist Worker Party, a neo-Nazi group.

"Got contact with them I instantly got stabbed five times," he said.

The group which has ties to white nationalism had legal permits to demonstrate on the capitol grounds. They were met by people like the man we spoke to. He was at the capitol as a counter-protester.

"Just came straight after me. There were no words said."

He showed us his wounds. Staples and stitches mark his chest.

Video posted on YouTube shows the man being treated on the capitol grounds.

"I turned around and as I turned around he grabbed my shoulder and started stabbing me five times," said the man.

Police have made no arrests from the chaos at the capitol.

"Very frustrated, you know, how can you feel safe when police officers are not doing their jobs and pretty much you have people trying to murder you."

Police issued this statement,

"At this time, the CHP and the Sacramento Police Department are continuing with their investigation related to the events at the capital. We are in the process of reviewing hundreds of hours of video and we are also conducting interviews as appropriate."

The man we spoke with spent a week in the hospital and has not filed a police report. It's unclear how many, if any reports have been filed.
