Murder Suspect Returned To California

SANTA PAULA, Calif. (AP) — A former Ventura County man suspected of killing his estranged wife and her boyfriend has been returned to California from Mexico.

Everardo Meza Alamillo was returned to the county Friday. The 46-year-old had been held in Mexico since his arrest in November across the border from El Paso, Texas.

The FBI says Alamillo fled to Mexico shortly after the mother of his child and her boyfriend were fatally shot in October 1993 in Santa Paula.

Alamillo was indicted in 1994 on two counts of murder in the deaths of 21-year-old Adriana Castanon Meza and 22-year-old Armando Cauich.

County prosecutor John Barrick tells the Ventura County Star that Alamillo was in the process of divorcing Meza and he was jealous of her new relationship.

It's unclear whether Alamillo has an attorney.
