Pair Named 'Cash' Accused Of Passing Counterfeit Bills

SONORA (CBS13) - Their last names might be "Cash," but a Sonora pair is under arrest on charges they tried to go shopping with counterfeit bills.

The arrests happened on Friday. According to the Sonora Police Department, a Carl's Jr. employee reported that a man and a woman had just tried to buy a milkshake with a counterfeit $20 bill.

Both quickly left in a cab waiting outside, but the Carl's Jr. employee was able to give police a good description of the pair.

Officers quickly got to the scene and stopped the pair in the cab as they were trying to leave. The pair was identified as 34-year-old Bobby E. Cash and 28-year-old Nicole M. Cash, both Sonora residents.

A shopping bag full of clothing the pair had allegedly purchased with counterfeit money was found in the Cash's possession. Heroin and more counterfeit bills was also found, police say.

The pair, who are married, was already wanted by the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department on other charges, police say.

The Cash's were arrested and booked at Tuolumne County Jail. They're facing charges of passing counterfeit bills, burglary and conspiracy.
