Firefighters Mopping Up Fire At Sailor Bar Park In Fair Oaks

FAIR OAKS (AP) - Firefighters have stopped forward progress of a vegetation fire in Fair Oaks.

The fire burned about four acres in the area of 4233 Illinois Avenue, which is along the American River at Sailor Bar Park, according to authorities. It sent up a large amount of smoke that was visible from miles away.

A Sac Metro Fire Department helicopter, several engines, and water tenders battled the blaze.

No injuries have been reported.

The exact cause of the fire has not been released.
