VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - Police say a Southern California resident who heard noises in his backyard went outside and found a man in his hot tub.

The Ventura County Star reports that the resident confronted the intruder, who ran off late Tuesday.

Ventura police found the suspect on the roof of a neighboring house. The 47-year-old man was arrested without incident on suspicion of prowling.

The suspect, described by officials as a transient, could face other charges including parole violation and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
