A man was found shot and killed in the entryway of a West Sacramento home after reports of a burglary Wednesday morning.

Police say they were alerted about a possible burglary in progress at a home along Jacquelyn Lane, near Linden Road, just before 4:30 a.m.

A married couple was home at the time of the burglary, police say. They reported to police that they heard what sounded like someone trying to break in to their home.

Officers who responded to the scene later found a male shot and killed in the entryway of the home. Multiple shots were fired, police say.

West Sacramento police say they are no longer looking for anyone.

Investigators will be at the scene for several hours, police say, as they try to figure out who the person was and what exactly led up to the shooting.
