Brush Fire Spreads To San Bernardino Motel But No Injuries

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — A brush fire along Interstate 10 spread to a motel in San Bernardino but there were no injuries.

Guests fled Thursday night as flames ignited the two-story Super 8 motel.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department says 40 percent of the structure was damaged.

Firefighter Eric Sherwin tells the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin (http://bit.ly/2a1hybs) the fire was reported at 9:42 p.m. as a vegetation blaze. It burned west along the freeway, hit palm trees and spread to the building's roof, threatening other structures as well.

Displaced motel guests waited along the sidewalk next to a nearby restaurant as 70 firefighters battled the flames.

The fire's cause is under investigation.
